In those most animated days when the entire Hanoi-Amsterdam High School was eagerly looking forward to the 15th anniversary celebration of the school’s establishment on November 20, 2000, a student organisation was founded: Hanoi-Amsterdam Organization (H-A-O), whose initial aim was to establish a common virtual playground for students on the World Wide Web.

After more than one year of operation, H-A-O has received much enthusiastic support and encouragement from students near and far; from not only those learning at Hanoi-Amsterdam but also students from other schools such as the School of Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University), Le Hong Phong High School, as well as many others. Owing to many contributions and great expectations of its members, HAO did not satisfy with itself merely as a "virtual playground”, but strived to develop into an active association of current students as well as alumni.

To secure its standing as a prestigious association of students, H-A-O has acted principally according to these goals:

- Serve as an easy-to-access bridge to form firm connections between students and alumni of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School around the world.

- Develop close relationships between the school’s students and friends from all around the world.

- Form good relations and partnerships with other students' associations and organisations as well as other educational institutions the world over.

- Promote social activities, hold cultural as well as academic exchange meetings, organise competitions... in order to enhance creativity, so as to benefit its members.

However, there’s not a single organisation that can develop without its members’ zealous participation; just as there’s not a single tree that can grow without essential nutritions. We expectantly hope that you yourselves will contribute with ardour by giving us constructive ideas to build a community which will, we believe, in the near future, make its name known to the world.
