Education Model at Hanoi-Amsterdam High school
Hanoi-Amsterdam High School consists of two levels:
The lower secondary level: Each year, Hanoi-Amsterdam High School selects abled students for its 6th grade. For four years, teachers will help these students improve their morals and academic abilities to pass the entrance exam into Hanoi-Amsterdam's 10th grade

The upper secondary level: 10th grade students must pass a competitive, rigid entrance examination organized by Hanoi's Education and Training Office. Students are specialized in o­ne of the following subject areas: Literature, mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry, biology, Russian, English, and French. Starting with the 2002-2003 school year, Chinese and geography have been added to the existing specializations. Students are expected to present good to excellent study results in all subjects to remain in school, and are encouraged to explore their specialized subjects to take part in national and international competitions. After three years, most students enter their favorite university; some receive scholarships and study abroad.

Instructional methods: Following instructional methods are used at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School:

- Selecting excellent students from all primary and secondary schools through examinations;
- Sharing teaching experience to improve quality;
- Innovating teaching methods by using student-centered teaching;
- Stimulating intellectual curiosity and independent thinking in students;  
- Testing regularly, timely encouraging students, assessing accurately students' abilities;
- Instructing students to experiment with modern equipment;
- Creating original educational methods, such as organizing the English Speaking Club, the Russian Club, the student company, GLOBE business administration classes, etc.    
- Organizing field trips to factories, scientific institutions, hospitals, etc.
- Applying various quality control methods: inspectors attend lessons, visit classes, consult opinions from parents, students, the Youth Union, and from the Office, the Department, and the Institute for Secondary Education to improve teaching quality;   
- Paying attention to students' morals; teaching politeness, discipline and character through lessons of tradition, ethnology, ideology, relationships to family and friends, and national pride, especially in civic education, literature, and history classes;
- Teaching morals and tradition through organizing regular visits to historical museums and places of interest;
- Increasing the role of the parent body; linking the school with parents and the society in order to educate students.

Graduation exam:
Specialized classes: 100% graduated
Extension classes: 98% graduated
University entrance exams: 98% passed
International Scholarships: 48
