Vietnam software developer to distribute MU game

Vietnam’s top software developer FPT has reached a deal with South Korea’s Webzen, an online gaming giant in Asia, to officially distribute the MU game in the country, rocking the entire local gaming community. The deal will be a big blow to current local suppliers of the MU game - the most popular type of massively multi-player online role-playing games (MMORPGs) in the country - since currently all their MU games are pirated copies, said observers. The MU game was introduced to Vietnam through Global, a free server in 2003. Afterwards, a large number of personal servers were set up with the MU game throughout the whole country with 100 per cent of them pirated. FPT’s move will put an end to the fate of these pirated servers, said observers. After paying a lot of money to buy the official MU game, FPT will not accept co-existing with pirated servers in Vietnam, they added. An end to the pirated servers would affect players the most because they have the most to lose, said observers. At first, FPT will have to spend a lot of time to “localize” its MU game, and prepare for work on necessary infrastructure, said observers.
