Institutions which have registered for securities transactions at Vietnam’s second stock exchange in Hanoi are entitled to corporate income tax incentives, according to the Ministry of Finance. Specifically, companies and organizations, if joining transactions at the Hanoi Securities Trading Center, will be able to enjoy the same corporate income tax incentives as listed companies at all securities centers.

Vietnamese State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the financial, banking and insurance fields would not be forced into financial disclosure, said the finance ministry. Meanwhile financial disclosure is compulsory in SOEs in all other fields, according to a new guidance of SOEs conduct on financial disclosure in line with a Prime Minister decision issued in late 2004.

Vietnam ranked 61st out of 65 countries in the 2004 e-readiness rankings compared with its 56th rank in the 2003 ladder, a global business survey showed. A country’s “e-readiness” is essentially a measure of its e-business environment, a collection of factors that indicate how amenable a market is to Internet-based opportunities, according to the London-based Economist Intelligence Unit, the business information arm of The Economist Group, publisher of The Economist.
