New Amser MC of “Duong len dinh Olympia” Show
After being an MC of the “Tim hieu phap luat” show in VTV2, being suddenly paid attention to by the “Duong len dinh Olympia”’ MC’s selectors, Kieu Anh became a MC of “Duong len dinh Olympia." She had an interview with VTV after her first show.
-Kieu Anh, would you please tell us about the story how you became a MC of “Duong len dinh Olympia”?
Like a dream suddenly came true. When I was in 10th grade, our high school, Hanoi-Amsterdam, appointed Phan Minh Chau to participate in “Duong len dinh Olympia”. All students wanted to go to cheer but we did not have enough tickets. When it was showed in VTV3, everybody watched it on the school’s big television. After this tragedy, I really hoped one day I could take part in this show. Being told by a friend that the show was selecting a new MC, I was excited to apply, and waiting on the edge of my seat as much as Duong len dinh Olympia’s candidates.
- What do you prepare for leading the candidates to Mount Olympia?
First of all, I have enthusiasm for every single candidate. Then the things I have learned up to now also help a lot. After being admitted to be a Duong len dinh Olympia’s MC, I am conscious of learning, reading, and memorizing so much more. I go over stuff just like if I were a candidate: reading books, going over the basic knowledge, and looking at encyclopaedic knowledge, or fun puzzles. A show like Duong len dinh Olympia requires unlimited knowledge, and everyone has a limited amount, so this should be a large trial for me in particular and all candidates as well.
- Being a student, how hard is the work of preparing for the show?
The most difficult thing is that I am pretty new in the role of being an MC for this show. I have to practice a lot of dialogues with my MC partner, Quoc Hiep. I also have to perform for Minh Vu and Tung Chi so that they can correct me. Sometimes I just watch the tape to have a chance to review my performance. However, I still have had to improve so much since I was in some of the earlier shows. Sometimes, I felt that I could have improvised better, and spoken more interestingly…In brief; I could have worked better if I were not too anxious. That was also the opinion of other MCs, and in the next time, I tried to do better.
-Kieu Anh, what is your opinion about forming your own style as an MC of this show?
I will try my best. However, this is not considered the most important thing because this show has only a few general requirements for MCs, which are that an MC has to be open to all candidates, and knowledgeable enough to explain all answers in detail. Most answers are given in a short and succinct form. The specific chance for an MC to “perform” is the part which is not included on-camera, such as asking about posters, mottos, unknown and interesting details about the candidates...
- Kieu Anh, what would you think about becoming a professional MC?
I haven’t thought about it. This job suddenly came to me out of the blue, but I loved it immediately, and have a passion for it.
